Q: Can I listen to both my standard stereo headset and my Megalodon at the same time?
A: No, once the USB connection to the Megalodon is established it will function as the default audio output for your computer. Some software however allows you to switch the audio output on the fly, but you will not be able to listen to the same source material through a standard headset and the Megalodon at the same time.
Q: Does the Megalodon have a bass adjustment when used in 2.0 mode?
A: Yes, you can use the bass level in both the 2.0 and 7.1 settings.
Q: Does the Megalodon have any drivers to download?
A: No, that is the part of the beauty of the Megalodon. There is no need to install any drivers on your computer.
Q: How do I insure my game is outputting 5.1 or 7.1 audio?
A: Please go to the game menu and select the audio options tab. From there select the 5.1 or 7.1 channel option. Audio selections will vary from game to game and some games may not offer a 5.1 or 7.1 audio option.
Q: How does the Megalodon and the Maelstrom engine actually work?
A: For more detailed information on the amazing technology behind the Megalodon please see our whitepaper. You can find this at http://www2.razerzone.com/Megalodon/ under the "Science and Technology" tab.
Q: How does the Megalodon perform when watching movies and listening to music?
A: The Megalodon is meant to perform best in a dynamic gaming environment. But you will still be able to hear the benefits of the Maelstrom engine using other types of source material, as long as the material is 5.1 or 7.1 encoded and enabled. For stereo sources use the Megalodon as a quality headset in the 2.0 mode.

Q: I hear a sound which is similar to a “rushing wind” or white noise when recording with my Megalodon?
A: You might wish to tune down your Razer Megalodon’s microphone sensitivity. The gaming grade engineered, noise filtering microphone is amplified in its natural state and this may cause the sounds as described above. You can do this by selecting the “mic sens” button on your Megalodon control pod and adjusting the level accordingly.
Vista users can also adjust the mic sense in Windows by doing the following:
1. In Windows Vista - Click start, select ‘Control Panel’, select ‘Sound’.
2. On the Recording tab, Select the Razer Megalodon microphone , and click on properties.
3. Adjust the level of the microphone under the levels tab.
Q: If I am listening to stereo source, should I listen to the Megalodon in 2.0 or 7.1 mode?
A: We would recommend 2.0 mode when listening to stereo sources such as MP3 files, CDs, stereo games and all other stereo sources. Razer recommends listening to the Megalodon in 2.0 mode for any stereo source and 7.1 mode from a 5.1 or 7.1 source.
Q: If I listen to a stereo source and I change the Megalodon to 7.1, why do I hear a slight difference in the audio?
A: Once you change the Megalodon to 7.1 channels you enable to full effects of the Maelstrom engine. You will hear some affects of the engine trying to recreate virtual sound fields using only the supplied 2 channels. It is recommended you use the 2.0 setting when using a stereo source.
Q: Is the Megalodon Mac compatible?
A: The Megalodon is basically compatible, but Razer can't guarantee it at this point of time, as the complete compatibility testing has not been finished. Razer will make a determination in the near future if we are able to fully support the Megalodon for Mac users.
Q: Is the Razer Megalodon compatible with the USB port on a X-box 360?
A: No the Megalodon will not work with the X-box 360. The Megalodon will light up, but the X-box does not have the USB Audio protocol that is needed.
Q: My Megalodon will not work once I connect other USB devices to my computer.
A: To accomplish the uncompromised sound quality the Megalodon must transfer large amounts of data through the USB port. Other devices on the same USB host controller may also require large amounts of data and this can exceed the capabilities of some systems. To avoid this try to install the Megalodon on its own USB host controller. This can be done by relocating the Megalodon to other USB ports on your system until the problem ceases. You also want to be sure your Megalodon is plugged directly into your computer and not via a non powered USB hub that you may find on keyboards and other peripherals.

Q: Why do I not always hear a large difference when I go from 2.0 to 7.1 on my Megalodon?
A: If the source material is currently reproducing 5.1 or 7.1 channels of audio you should hear a significant difference. Since the Megalodon is always processing all available channels of audio, the difference will not always be substantial if only 2 channels of audio are being used. You will hear more of a difference when 5-7 channels are being reproduced from the source material. It really depends on the source material being listened to as to how much an affect the mode will have.
Please ensure that your source material is set to output 5.1 or 7.1 audio. Games are very dynamic so the sound field will always change. We generally recommend listening to the Megalodon in 2.0 mode for a stereo source and 7.1 from a 5.1 or 7.1 source. To hear the full affects of the Megalodon you may want to play a game using a standard headset, then play the same game using the Megalodon.
Q: Will the Megalodon create a virtual 7.1 surround field when my source material is only outputting 2 channels?
A: The Megalodon will not be able to produce a surround field with only 2 channels from the source material. The Megalodon will perform as a quality stereo headset when listening to a stereo source in 2.0 mode.
Q: Will the Megalodon work on Windows 7?
A: Windows 7 is beta SW and not officially released at this time. However, since the Megalodon is a driverless device we do not anticipate any troubles using the Megalodon on a Windows 7 system. Our initial tests with the beta version of Windows 7 have been successful. Still until the final version of Windows 7 is released we really cannot comment on the Windows 7 OS.
Q: Will the Megalodon work with my PS3?
A: Sorry, the Megalodon is not compatible with the PS3.
